August Birchbox

Um, I’m in love with Birchbox.

No really. I’m in love with Birchbox.

August was my second month, and this time I literally counted down the days until the little pink box arrived. I stalked the Birchbox Facebook page to see what people were getting. I compulsively checked my Birchbox account page, all the while trying not to peek in case they’d updated my page to reflect what was in my box (they didn’t, at least not until after it came). I checked my tracking link EVERY DAY. I made Jimmie wait by the mailbox. AND THEN IT CAME.

This time I didn’t ruin it by being lazy…I got a knife and neatly opened the package so I could save my pretty cardboard box (what I’m going to do with it, hell if I know).

Then it was time to open it….and delay the excitement a little longer while I took pictures. Sorry these aren’t the greatest.

And finally, the goodies!!!

Sorry, but I don’t see the point in taking a picture of every item in there. You can see what’s in the box, and if you can’t…well, go to the Birchbox website and look it up. And I’m not going to value everything in the box, because frankly I don’t care. I paid my $10, and I’m happy with whatever I get. I couldn’t care less what the box value is.

Anyway, this isn’t really a Fearless Creative thing but I like reviewing them, and Birchbox makes me happy, so this is going to be a common thing every month. Enjoy it!

Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45+ – Um, LOVE this. I’ve only used it twice, but it makes my skin look and feel so good. Much better than my current BB cream. It covers well without adding color, which also means I don’t make a mess if I wipe my face on something (like Jimmie’s white shirt). It made my skin glow, covered my dark circles and pimples, and stayed all day. I’ve added this to my favorites – for now won’t be purchasing, but when I get enough points I may treat myself!

Violet Oasis 100% Organic Argan Oil – This was my first time using Argan Oil because I’m cheap. I’ve heard great things about it, but I’m skeptical about hair products. My hair is so fine that most stuff weighs it down and makes it look greasy. Argan Oil tends to be a little more than I’m willing to pay on a gamble, so I was excited to see it in my box. I’ve used it once or twice, and it really does make my hair much softer, glossier, more manageable, and just overall better looking. I didn’t need much, and it didn’t make my hair greasy – in fact, I could still go 2 days between washes. I also tried it on my super chapped/dry lips, and they were much smoother in the morning. I’ve read that there isn’t much of a difference between brands, so I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for a cheaper brand.

Jasmine Seven Wipes – These are foot wipes. I’m kinda amused by these. Honestly, I haven’t tried them. They’re going in my camping bag, though, so I’m happy.

TanTowel Classic Formula Self-Tan Towelettes – I haven’t used this either. Not sure when I will, but I’ll hang on to it – never know when it’ll come in handy. I’m a little skeptical though….I can’t see that it would do much besides my face, so maybe I’ll use it if I ever need to disguise tan lines?

ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Disco Fever – I am really not a lipstick girl, but getting a free one in my box was pretty exciting. The color is pretty orange…I can’t really wear it by itself. But the formula is pretty nice, and it tastes good. I layered a lip gloss over this and it toned the orange down quite nicely, so we’ll count that a win!

Overall, I’m pleased with my box! Both this box and my first one when I opened it I was kinda like “eh” – but then once I’ve used some of the products, I’m happy. Guess that’s how it goes!

I can see how this can quickly get addicting. I signed up to be on the Ipsy wait list, but I may take myself off it…..I’m not sure I’m up for spending $20 a month on beauty samples, no matter how awesome. Maybe I’ll save that for a Christmas present or something.

Anyway, gonna go play with my box some more…..
