Book Bites: What I’m Reading Right Now (April 24, 2017)

bookbitesreadingrightnowWelcome to Book Bites, where you get a glimpse into my reading life! Here I chronicle what I’ve finished (and what you can expect reviews on soon!), what I’m reading right now, and what I’m reading next.

Olga, sporting her stylish e-collar (we wear it backwards!)

It was another slow week for me. I’m still studying for my Project Management certification (I take the test mid-May). But more than that, my pup had surgery and then had minor complications. She’s doing well now, but it was a stressful week! She’s a cutie though.

I only finished one book this week, but made more progress on a bunch of others. I’m still working on Gone With the Wind and The Bear and the Nightingale, slowly but surely, and I finally started Strange the Dreamer. I also picked up The River of Kings, which I can already tell is going to be a wonderful book. It’s the kind you savor. And no surprise, my Next Up stash is growing!

Last Week’s Posts:

Review: Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology

Review: Kanishk Tharoor’s Swimmer Among the Stars

Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer hosts the weekly meme, The Sunday Post. It’s a chance to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual.

  1. I love that you read several books at the same time like I do 🙂 I hope you like Gone with the wind. I loved it. I have Strange the Dreamer but the audio book file is damage so I’m like bouncing of the walls now with desperation! LOL I’m reading the hate U Give now. Great book as well! Hope to continue Salt of the Sea too soon, I had to put it aside about a month ago because I wasn’t in the mood. Hope puppy feels better soon! Great haul Casey! Happy reading!

    1. I’ve only been able to read multiple books in the last year or so! I can’t read similar kinds though, so I’ll read a collection of short stories, listen to something, and then bounce back and forth between drastically different books. That stinks about Strange the Dreamer! I’m about 60 pages in, and it’s not what I expected but enjoyable nonetheless. Happy reading back to you!!

  2. I also read several books at once. Although I only list three on my post, I have a bunch more going, depending on mood or location.

It was a busy week of reading, Girl Scouts, the Mandarin Showcase, and boxing up books. Come see what I’m reading.

    1. I really need to clear some of my currently reading out – but nothing is “grabbing” me at the moment!

  3. Aw poor puppers!! I am glad she is doing better – and she is a super cutie! My husband just started listening to Truthwitch ~ he is enjoying it. I will probably pick it up after he is done, and we can mini-book club it. Lol. I like it when he listens to books I want to read unprompted. 🙂 Lol.

  4. Gone with the Wind! I love the movie but I don’t think I have ever read the book. Kudos to you! And I have wanted to read Salt in the Sea. I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week,

  5. How are you liking Strange the Dreamer??

I am behind on all bookish things right now – my blog, my reading, reviews! Hopefully I’ll manage to catch up some next month!!!

Hope you have a lovely week.

    1. It’s not what I expected, but once you get past the first few chapters it’s good! I’m about 60 pages in.
