January Birchbox

One of my favorite days of the month is literally Birchbox day. (I cancelled Ipsy; I just didn’t want to be spending that much on them per month, and I wasn’t loving Ipsy anyway.) I’d gotten a couple so-so boxes lately, so I was really hoping January’s would be better.

As it is, I change my profile after every box…I should probably leave it alone, but I’m too impatient for that. I don’t remember what I have my settings on now – doesn’t much matter, I suppose. Anyway, this month’s box was indeed better!

I’m sorry I don’t take pictures of everything, and I don’t value the box. There are tons of other great bloggers who do. I just don’t have the inclination for that – I figure if you need another picture or want to know the value, you can find it elsewhere.

Birchbox Notecards – These are adorable. I’d kinda wanted to put them up somewhere – I may still, but I wish they didn’t say Birchbox on them. They’re also not notecards…Birchbox has written all sorts of inspiring messages on the back. Right now they’re in my craft box, so I’ll have to figure out how to use them.

Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream – I was stoked to see this in my box. I’ve never tried a Fekkai product, but always wanted to (what can I say, I’m kinda cheap). The sample is HUGE! I used a little too much the first time – this did weigh my hair down – but it’s amazing how sleek and healthy it made my hair look. I will definitely be buying this once I use the sample!

Nail Rock in Red Glitter – I love nail polish, though I will say I was a little disappointed to see this same product in Walmart the other day. Regardless, it’s nice to get a full-size product again, and I probably wouldn’t have purchased this myself. Can’t wait to try it!

Ahmad Teas – I’m not much of a tea drinker, but I’ll give this a go. I got the Peach and Passionfruit, English Breakfast, and Mint Mystique. Weird thing to get in a beauty box, but whatever.

Inika Mineral Eyeshadow in Eternal Marine – I was really impressed when I used this. The color went on well, was very subtle yet beautiful, and lasted all day. Even Jimmie commented on it, and frankly, he doesn’t pay much attention to my eyeshadow, so you know it had to have been impressive.

As for these next three, I’m not sure I was supposed to get three different ones…Birchbox is only showing me as getting the eye cream in my account. I’m certainly not complaining though! I love being able to try different products from the same brand, and I really like that all of these are vegan. Come to think of it, the eyeshadow is vegan too, so maybe they’re trying to be more animal friendly. Good job, Birchbox!

100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Eye Cream – Ok, so call me crazy, but….I swear this smells like corn chips. Not good. I couldn’t tell a huge difference when I used it….I’ll finish the packet, but the smell is really off-putting.

100% Pure Organic Super Fruits Reparative Cream – Of the three, this is the least scented. It felt wonderful when I put it on, and has kept my skin moisturized all day, without feeling greasy. I’d consider buying this.

100% Pure Organic Vitamin A & Coenzyme Q10 Wrinkle Smoothing Night Cream – This stuff has a super strong orange scent; it’s pleasant, but strong. Felt really weird going on, but after it soaked in my skin felt great. It also looked great when I woke up the next morning.

So, better box? For sure. Can’t wait for February!!!

  1. This is always such exotic territory for me… so not a make-up user! I should be, though. I enjoy reading your reviews and actually start thinking that maybe this stuff might feel good!

    1. It’s a great way to try stuff if you’re not sure about it – it’s cheap enough and gives you a decent mix of products! Plus it’s fun…kinda like Christmas every month! 🙂
