I keep trying to quit. I really do. And then I get another box, and I’m torn again. Sigh.
Truthfully, some of the magic has worn off. I don’t think it’s your fault. You’ve been doing really well. But it’s not as new and exciting to me. I’m not sure how much longer we should do this, you know?
It’s not you….it’s me.
This month’s theme was “Power Up.” It’s all about boosting your routine and confidence. I think we all know the themes have very little to do with anything, but they are kind of fun. This month, Birchbox teamed with Women’s Health Magazine. Every subscriber got a free 10-issue subscription (or a $10 refund). I’m pretty excited about that! (Not like I need more magazines, but oh well.)
Birchbox included a little packet of 12 challenges to give everyone a boost. There’s even a contest if you share your photos completing the challenges. I’m lazy, and not a follower, so I’m not participating. But it’s a cute idea. My favorite challenge is to get outside. The challenges are a mix of beauty, fitness, and nutrition.
Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser: I’ve heard mixed reviews of this. I haven’t tried it yet, mostly because my skin took a beating in Mexico, and I’m trying to baby it right now. It looks nice though, and doesn’t have too strong of a scent. I’ll try to remember to report back!
Marcelle New Age 8 in 1 Power Serum: This is the second Marcelle product I’ve gotten. I wasn’t wowed by the first – the BB cream. I like this a lot better. It was a bit thinner than I was expecting. That’s my ignorance with serums though. This made my skin feel pretty good, and smoothed out my skin tone a bit.
Ruffian Nail Lacquer in Ambrosia: I completely missed the email telling me how to choose a product, and I kicked myself as soon as I opened my box. I like Ruffian polish, but I really don’t like the color. I’d have preferred the lip gloss, but such is life. Anyway, Ambrosia is kind of a metallic lilac. It looks horrible on me. It’s a little streaky, though that could have been my lazy application. It held up fairly well though – this was after 3 days.
Ruffian Dressing Room Nail Lacquer Remover Towelette: Haven’t used these either, but I’m excited about them. Straight into my travel bag. I love the idea of remover wipes, but haven’t yet bought any. They’re pretty convenient, even if they are incredibly wasteful.
Coastal Scents Revealed Palette 2: Yay for eyeshadow! Unfortunately, not yay for this palette. The colors look pretty in the palette, but are so incredibly light. I never could get decent color payoff, from any of them. I haven’t tried them over a primer or cream base though, so maybe that will help.
Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream: This smells nothing like the Hello fragrance I got a few boxes ago. That’s ok – I still like it. It’s pretty creamy for a scented body cream. I wouldn’t buy it, but it’s a nice sample to have.
I’m not sure how much longer I’ll continue my subscription, honestly. I just cashed in all my points on the Beauty Protector Trio, the Air Repair All Purpose Salve, and the Sumita eyeliner. We’ll see….maybe I’ll keep it going a few more months.
On a side note, I’ve been on the Ipsy waiting list since May, and I’m starting to get annoyed, so I think I’m going to remove myself from that again. I got a Beauty Box 5 this month too, so that review will be up soon!!
What did you get in your Birchbox? Are you still in love with the service, or has the magic faded for you like it has for me?
