September Birchbox

It’s Birchbox time again!!

I’m sorry this is so late. I’m trying not to overwhelm you with posts, and I have a lot to say, sooooo……thank you for patiently waiting!

September Box DesignFirst….can we talk about that box? Look how pretty!! I love the colors. It’ll go in my stack of as-yet-unused Birchboxes…seriously, what DO people do with them? And why am I keeping them all?

The September theme was Fresh Paint. It’s also Birchbox’s anniversary month, though I’m not entirely sure what that means for subscribers. Maybe nothing, but it’s kind of cool regardless.

Birchbox Fresh Paint

Remember last month how depressed I was because I forgot to look at my box? Not this time. I remembered! My box was addressed to….

You=Best Casey

I think it’s a little odd, but I still like the idea. Keep it up, Birchbox.

Goody time.

September BirchboxReal Chemistry Luminous 3-minute Peel: I think I’m the only person who didn’t like this peel. In fact, I hated it. It felt terrible, and afterwards my skin felt like I’d poured acid on it. I also had a horrible breakout the next day. Coincidence, maybe, but I’m leaning toward no.

Harvey Prince Ageless Liquid Loofah: Not like I really need another shower gel, but at least it smells good. The tube isn’t very full though, which kinda sucks. It’ll go into my travel bag. The scent is fairly strong, and fairly fruity. Reminds me a little of pomegranates. (Birchbox says mango and pink grapefruit…hmm.)

Temptu S/B Highlighter: I was pleasantly surprised by this. I thought it’d be terrible, honestly. It actually wasn’t. It looks like it’s super pigmented, but once you get it on you get just a subtle glow. That said, if you’ve got fair skin, it might be too dark. I don’t really like the texture, though I didn’t have too much trouble with it getting oily during the day. Not sure I’d buy it, but as a sample, I actually like it.

Acure Organics Day Cream Gotu Kola Stem Cell +1% CGF: This is another meh product. The scent is super strong – felt like putting oranges all over my face. As a moisturizer, it was so so. Felt a bit runny, but at least it wasn’t heavy. I’ll use the sample, but I wasn’t impressed.

Macadamia Professional Healing Oil Spray: I think this was one of the choose your own adventure options. I didn’t choose. I’ve never tried anything from this brand, so that’s kind of exciting. First of all, it smells awesome. Second of all, holy batman the shine!!! I was a little afraid it would weigh my fine hair down, and it does slightly, so I recommend not spraying it anywhere near your roots. Otherwise, though, I like this product, and will definitely be trying more from this line.

Chap Stick Dual Ended Hydration Lock Moisturize and Renew: This was the bonus, the Birchbox find. Actually, I think it was around this time last year that we got Chap Sticks in our boxes too. I always love getting it. The moisture end is awesome. The renew end isn’t. Would I buy it again? Maybe?

In case you can’t tell, I wasn’t super thrilled with this box. I’m not sure why, because all the products are things I should be excited about. But nothing has really blown me away…even the Macadamia Spray isn’t as great as I’d hoped.

Maybe October will be better….

  1. Lovely box! I, too, am a box-saver…I have gift bags (which I also save) full of them flatted and almost all closets have a few stacked that I just couldn’t bring myself to flat.

    1. I do gift bags too!!! I’ve even thought about framing some of them. Target had some really pretty bags this summer that I took pictures of to try to recreate/paint on canvas – just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Maybe that’s a new project!!

      1. Super idea! I have a whole huge gallery of pics I’ve taken with a thought to put to canvas or to practice my sketching….so far, one of the ‘retirement tasks’. Are you certain we’re not connected way back somewhere ?? LOL
