I’m snowed in!
I didn’t go out and measure…well, that’s not entirely true. I tried to measure, but I was too lazy to put shoes on, so I semi-measured on the porch last night. Whatever. Some people I know said they got 7 inches, so that’s what I’m going to say I got. Looks about right to me.
So we’ve spent the last few days on the couch, alternating between working, T25, and Hay Day marathons. It’s been a really fun time, and I’m not being sarcastic. And I’ve gotten a ton of work done. Really, I have. I also kinda ate an entire package of macaroni and cheese. This is one of those #sorrynotsorry moments. It was delicious.
I also tried Snow Cream for the first time ever…where have I been??? I don’t know if this is a Southern thing or what, but I’d never heard of it until we got seven inches of snow last night. All of a sudden, that’s all Facebook could talk about. My curiosity finally won out, and I looked up how to make it. Turns out, it’s super simple:
- Milk (the recipe called for a cup but I just poured)
- Sugar (I did measure this…1/4 cup)
- Vanilla (nope, just poured)
Mix it all together. I was a bit skeptical at first…but then, wow. I made a whole bunch and put it in the freezer. Ice cream alternative that doesn’t make me sick? Yes please. I bet you could make it with almond or soy milk too, and probably skip the sugar, but I didn’t have almond or soy milk and I didn’t think about skipping the sugar until it was too late. I considered adding chocolate syrup, but didn’t get that far. Sprinkles too.
Funny story….so last night when I let the dogs out before bed, we probably had a good 3 or 4 inches at that point. I’m not sure if she got confused or just didn’t want to go any farther into it, but Zoe decided the porch was as good a place as any to do her thing. All I could do was laugh at her…and hope there was enough snow to protect the deck. It was hilarious, really. And besides, look at this face…how could I be upset?
I participated in my first ever Twitter chat tonight. I know, I’m behind the times. BUT…I never use Twitter. Seriously – joining the chat was my 7th tweet, and I think I’ve had an account for 4 years. Oops. I guess I’m considered a lurker…I follow people, but never post. I haven’t decided if I want to try using it or not. I used to think Twitter was just for people with big egos, but I can see the fun in it. And it seems to be working for businesses.
ANYWAY. So I got an email from Birchbox, saying I could win one of these Dr. Brandt Camera-Ready Kits if I participated in a Twitter Chat with the celebrity dermatologist himself. What else was I doing? Drinking wine…which I could do in front of Twitter. Sign me up.
It got started, and I got a little bored. I was expecting something frantic, and well…it wasn’t. But then, Dr. Brandt (or his social media team, whatever) replied to ME! How cool is that?
This blog is all over the place. Oops.
Last night I painted my nails for Valentine’s Day….which I kinda hate, but I’m trying to move on and get over my irrational hatred/fear of a holiday. So what if my parents’ divorce was finalized on February 14th? So what if my cat choked to death while I watched scary movies with my girlfriends in the basement? So what if I think the holiday is contrived?
Like I said, I’m trying to get over that. Do I want hearts and flowers? No. One of those giant Reese’s hearts will do…..
So, I painted my nails, and I might even wear red tomorrow.
Aren’t they cute? I was actually pretty proud of myself. Turns out making a heart isn’t so hard – you just make a v-shape. Surprisingly enough, my right hand looks better than my left. And I finally used that Nail Rock polish I got in my January Birchbox. It actually wasn’t anywhere near as messy as I thought it’d be. Annnnd….I really like the color. I debated for a while about whether to put a top coat on the glitter…I eventually did, and I’m glad. It’s still kinda rough, but at least now glitter isn’t falling off. (And actually, I don’t think I got glitter in my topcoat.) The pink is some China Glaze color…I’m not super impressed with the formula – it’s pretty streaky. And it’s chipped already, though that could be because I’m apparently super hard on my nails. Whatever, I like them, and now I’m inspired to try clovers for St. Patrick’s Day. I need a good white though….any suggestions?
Speaking of Birchbox, I think mine is coming tomorrow. Happy V-Day to me!!
